The 2nd meeting of “Business Support Local” took place where a selection of local businesses come together to form a group and go
through the process of ‘Action Learning’ This is sponsored by government and is an initiative by the ‘Ahead Partnership’, which is about unlocking social and economic potential.
As I was the first to volunteer I was in the ‘hot seat’ and all were interested in my progress with my action plan since the last meeting. Being challenged and being accountable to the group is really powerful and ensures that you do achieve and they act like a virtual board room. Therefore, no progress is not acceptable as questions are asked and specific targets are required. Focus was the key word of the evening and it is in business, as we can get distracted by the little things and forget the bigger priorities.
There were 2 other businesses that had the opportunity to explain their business challenge and we went through the same positive process to establish the situation and give support. I volunteered to be a mentor for one of the businesses, so more on this to come as I change hats again.
Without a target driven action plan to guide you, how can you measure your success?
